Offered for the first time ever – a genuine handwritten word from American Patriot, Founding Father and first United States Supreme Court Justice John Jay, authenticated and encapsulated by (BAS) Beckett Authentication Services. Each handwritten word was carefully removed from a legal document handwritten by Jay.
Jay was the first Chief Justice of the Supreme Court appointed by President George Washington, serving from 1789-1795. Prior to the Court, he was president of the Continental Congress (1778-1779), was a signatory on the Treaty of Paris, and is considered one of America’s Founding Fathers.
Each order will include one Jay handwriting fragment selected from the dropdown menu. An example of the selection of some of the Jay words can be seen in the 2nd photo. Each word in the dropdown menu is an actual word handwritten by Jay. You will receive one authentic piece of the Jay's penmanship encapsulated by Beckett.
Each encapsulated word was individually removed from a 1770 Indenture written by Jay for the purchase of a house. Dr. John Charlton was an English-born New York physician, and the Jay family doctor. Today, Charlton Street in New York City is named after the colonial doctor who served as President of the New York Medical Society.
Genuine Jay autograph letters can cost hundreds, if not thousands of dollars. This encapsulated word offers a rare and affordable opportunity to own an authentic piece of the legendary first Supreme Court Justice’s penmanship.
The cost of authenticating an individual word of Jay's handwriting is $100 on Beckett's website.
