Each word was carefully removed from a handwritten letter on his military strategy by Winters.
Winters is famous for commanding the legendary Easy Company of the 506th Parachute Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division, the “Screaming Eagles” in Europe in World War II – made famous in the HBO miniseries, based on the Stephen Ambrose best-seller, Band Of Brothers.

Each encapsulated word was individually removed from a January 3, 2003 terrific letter written by Winters on the subject of his Band of Brothers wartime leadership and strategy, including: “If the men have faith in your leadership and judgement, their (sic) is no hesitation on their part.” And, “you get off the first shot / make it a good shot / a bull’s eye” and “When outnumbered, hit them on the flank, take them out one at a time…”
